James Madison was a delegate to the constitutional convention from the state of Virginia. He was an advocate of strong government and he took the floor many times to argue his point even though he was not the most eloquent of speakers. He also helped frame and ensure passage of the Bill of Rights.
Benjamin Franklin was a delegate for the constitutional convention from Pennsylvania. He was the oldest delegate present at the Constitutional convention. Being a member of the Pennsylvania abolitionist society he was one of the few people who brought up the issue of slavery at the Convention. he believed that the position of executive was too big a burden to place on one mans shoulders and that a committee should fill the executive position.
Alexander Hamilton was a delegate from the state of New York. he was absent on many of the days that the Constitutional Convention was in session because he was away on legal business. However he was the only delegate from his state who signed the finished document.
George Washington was elected as the president of the Constitutional convention and he presided over the negotiations.He was a delegate from Virginia. He was elected president of the United States shortly after the Constitution was signed.
